Safety Tips
    Electricity

  • Remember that electricity and water don't mix!
  • Unplug the toaster before you unstick your bread.
  • Pull electrical cords out of the outlet by the plug not the cord.
  • Keep fingers and other objects (other than an electrical plug) out of electrical outlets.
  • Never touch anything electrical with wet hands.
  • Do not use radios, hairdryers, or any other electrical appliance near water.
  • Stay away from trees, poles or towers that are close to power lines.
  • Look up and be aware of overhead wires before you climb a tree or fly a kite.
  • Stay clear of all outdoor electrical equipment.
  • If you see downed power lines, do not go near them and don't touch anything close to them. Call for help!
    Water

  • Remember that electricity and water don't mix!
  • Always wear a life jacket when you are in any watercraft.
  • Pay attention to all signs and warnings.
  • Never swim alone.
  • Learn how to swim by a qualified swimming instructor.
  • Beware of fast-moving water currents.
  • Check the water depth before you dive.
  • Get to know some life-saving techniques.
  • Keep a clear head in any emergency situation.
